You’ll Find A Way.

I meant to blog earlier this weekend, but I got distracted by other things. Even tried earlier today, but got distracted and wasn’t quite in the right mood. I have to be in the right mood for these things otherwise I end up erasing an entire paragraph or an entire post, which is a waste of time. This evening I’m not up to anything special. I finished an entire book today, The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys by Chris Fuhrman, which I rather liked. I think he captured a lot of what seemed magical about adolescence correctly, or at least, correctly for me and it was a refreshing, short read. I need that sometimes. I find myself picking these long, complicated books and in the end I don’t regret reading them but I forget that short and sweet is just as good, if it’s the right kind of book. I started reading Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban this evening. It’s a comfort book for me. There are books that I return to from time to time just to read something familiar. It’s like visiting with an old friend. It’s like time travel.

Speaking of travel, my trip is next weekend and I couldn’t be more excited for it. I’m a bit anxious about this week — the week leading up to vacation is the worst, most dragging weeks of all time. Time stretches beyond reason. Time moves rather slow for me as it is, so it feels like a hundred times worse. So, if you have any contact with during this week, I ask you to say hello and give me words of encouragement. ha. I’ve been planning out what I intend to do once I’m on Canadian soil. I plan on doing a lot more than aimlessly wandering around the city — not that that’s a bad thing — but I want to stimulate myself a bit more and take in more of the culture. I plan on visiting a few galleries, trying a few different things to eat (although you can not persuade me not to have Tim Horton’s while I’m there, because I never get to have it unless I’m up North and I love their donuts and coffee), maybe go to Sneaky Dee’s on Sunday night for the Wavelength Music Series, and definitely will be checking out Scream in High Park Mainstage to make my trip a bit more literary. This dude is going to be there. And yes, I’ll do some aimless walking, too.

I hope my fellow Amurikkkkkkans had a nice Fourth. I missed out on the celebration to stay home and paint (I heard fireworks, that’s about it). It was a washout the entire weekend, anyway. I did a lot of writing, too, and even more reading and even more listening to music which is how I would have liked to spend the weekend anyway. Although, I was hoping for some BBQ, to be honest. Oh well. Who needs America’s birthday to BBQ?
